What does a Substance Abuse Counselor do?As a Full-Time Substance Abuse Counselor at Stand Inc., you will maintain a caseload of up to 10 individuals, providing structured face-to-face Individual and Family Counseling alongside Addictive Disease Support Services. Your work will focus on enhancing clients' functional domains to prevent, overcome, or manage their levels of functioning and maintain sobriety. Facilitate 2-4 group sessions weekly for individuals grappling with substance abuse and co-occurring mental health disorders. You will conduct assessments, including the Addiction Severity Index (ASI) and the Adult's Needs and Strengths Assessment (ANSA), while ensuring timely and accurate documentation within 48 hours of service delivery. Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical staff to guide clients through their programs from intake to discharge, support the Family Violence Intervention Program, and engage in weekly Clinical Team Meetings.

Would you be a great Substance Abuse Counselor?To thrive as a Full-Time Substance Abuse Counselor at Stand Inc., candidates must possess a range of essential skills and qualifications. Required certifications include Certified Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CCADC), Georgia Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor Level III (GCADC III), and Master Addiction Counselor (MAC), among others. A solid background of 3 to 5 years as a Level II or Master Addiction Counselor is necessary, along with a strong understanding of recovery support and a person-centered philosophy. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is vital for writing reports and correspondence, while the ability to present information clearly to the Leadership Team and community members is crucial.
Additionally, candidates must have effective problem-solving skills, be able to interpret and apply policies consistently, and maintain a current Georgia Driver's License. Supervisory experience is advantageous in this collaborative environment. Keeping all certifications and licenses up-to-date is a fundamental responsibility in this role.
