Miles Ahead Charter School (MACS) is a tuition-free, public charter school authorized by the State Charter Schools Commission (SCSC) of Georgia. For the 2025- 2026 academic year, MACS will be serving grades K-5 - all elementary grades. As an SCSC authorized school located in Powder Springs, MACS operates as a Local Educational Authority (LEA) and has a statewide attendance zone. Overview of Exceptional Child Services Crew Lead Position

The Exceptional Child Services Crew Lead at MACS operates in the function of a Special Education department Lead Teacher. This individual ensures MACS provides effective educational programming for all students with disabilities, and reports directly to the Director of Exceptional Child Services. The Lead assumes responsibility for the knowledge and application of the implementation, evaluation, and re-evaluation for all special education students. This work includes but is not limited to organizing and running IEP meetings, monitoring the performance of Speech only students, collaborating with external contractors for services, and ensuring MACS remains in compliance with all federal and state law related to the instruction of exceptional children.

  • Extensive experience with IDEA and 504 law and requirements. 
  • Collaboration within and outside school stakeholders for student evaluation related to IEPs, 504s and BIPs
  • Experience working with diverse groups of exceptional scholars
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to navigate various instructional platforms including GO-IEP online. 
  • Knowledge of safety and security related to confidentiality of scholars and their records
  • Ability to analyze data, and guide others through the improvement process
  • Appreciates strong home and school communication

Qualifications

  • Special Education Certification Required from Georgia PSC( GACE 81, 82, 87, and 88)
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree Preferred
  • Experience leading others (Mentor Teacher, Grade Level Chair)
  • Experience working on start-up communities, organizations, or groups
  • Passion for advocating for young children
  • Experience working with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), planning, developing, and organizing meetings. 
  • Strong communication abilities
  • Experience managing various behaviors in young children
  • Desire to continuously learn and increase effectiveness as a professional 
  • Unwavering commitment to MACS’s mission and willingness to go above and beyond to meet the needs of MACS students, families, and staff
  • Case managerial experience
  • Data collection and analysis
